Topping the first UK season would be a tough task for any crew of queens, but the Drag Race UK Season 2 dolls did their damndest. Every elimination hurt in this season, as even early out queens like Joe Black, Cherry Valentine, and Asttina Mandella made a big impact. The challenge variety was a major step up this go-around, though the girl groups’ task returned with the über-catchy “UK Hun.” But what’s most notable about this season is how COVID-19 affected production: thanks to a filming stoppage, there were seven months between the first and second halves of the season. Runner-up Bimini Bon Boulash took this opportunity and ran with it, coming back stronger than ever and becoming the season’s presumptive frontrunner. But it was early leader Lawrence Chaney who ultimately took the crown, in a decision that was perplexing at the time, but makes more sense upon rewatch.
